And just for thought...
Knees weak, you made my heart race without knowing it.
Across the rows of cubicles, our love affair began and ended.
You were in the dark about both.
At first, you didn't see the way eyes photographed you
or the ways my lips involuntarily puckered as you floated by desk.
You didn't see until that one night where fate led us to your bedroom.
Clothes on the floor, neither of us knew what would happen upon the sunrise.
You took me back to my car the next morning and off we went alone in our separate lives,
the beginning of our casual affair.
Breathless, that's how you left me, lingering by your desk.
You let me stand there, never glancing from that screen.
I knew you knew I was there.
Once and twice more, I ended up tangled up in your sheets,
never thinking that I would leave an imprint but let myself like you anyway.
Nothing, you made yourself clear that you wanted nothing from me.
I got the point.
You did not want me for keeps, just for a round or three.
Across the sea of cubicles, you ended what was never going to bloom.
At the end of the day, I'm just a girl who has been in love with writing her entire life. I am full of quirks, anxieties, fears, joys, laughter. And all I have wanted to do was give the world a smile.
