And just for thought...
He looked at me, thinking I got this one pegged,
as I smiled, thinking he has no idea who he is dealing with.
I told him that life is a beautiful thing, full of delight and misconceptions.
He replied with an off beat question that I only answered by not answering at all.
I wanted to know what he wanted to be when he grew up
and he said he wanted to save whales.
An eye for an eye, I mused but said nothing.
He looked at me from across the table, knowing what he saw was not really there
but also knowing I enjoyed playing with his fire.
I told him I did far too much growing up as a kid
and now I am fully embracing that lost childhood.
He asked if I wanted to go back to his place with a wink in his eye,
telling me, tempting me with his delicious wine.
I laughed and said I didn't play with his kinds of toys,
walking away, leaving only a peck on his cheek.
At the end of the day, I'm just a girl who has been in love with writing her entire life. I am full of quirks, anxieties, fears, joys, laughter. And all I have wanted to do was give the world a smile.
